Meriem Gawi | BACP-Registered Arabic-Speaking Counsellor I am a BACP-registered Arabic-speaking counsellor with many years of experience supporting refugees, asylum seekers, and survivors of trauma and abuse. I offer therapy in English and all Arabic dialects, including Darija and Egyptian dialects, and I strive to provide a safe, confidential, and culturally sensitive space where you can explore your feelings and experiences at your own pace.
My approach is humanistic and integrative, meaning I adapt the way I work to your unique needs and circumstances. I draw on trauma-informed, relational, and creative methods to help you make sense of your experiences, develop coping strategies, and reconnect with hope and resilience.
Alongside my private practice, I work with The Nightingale Psychiatric Hospital and Hestia, supporting clients from a wide range of backgrounds who may be living with anxiety, depression, loss, or the emotional impact of forced migration. I have also spent many years working with Women’s Trust and Al-Aman (DVIP), providing therapy and support to women who have experienced domestic abuse.

Meriem Gawi

In addition to counselling, I have contributed to the development of a professional toolkit on culturally specific abuse and have delivered training to professionals on supporting Arab and Muslim clients. I also run wellbeing workshops and group sessions to help reduce isolation and promote healing within the community.
My aim is to offer a warm, respectful, and empowering therapeutic space where you feel heard, valued, and supported as you move towards healing and growth.
